Are you angry

We have a responsibility to ourselves to be selective about who we spend time with. If you spent a lot of time with someone who, for instance, likes running people down, you will find you will begin to do the same. Why? Because the energy of another can infect you, for a day, a week, or even longer.
Energy is very powerful. It can change you in just a short time. How many times have you walked into a room where someone has just had an argument and literally felt the discomfort in the room? That is energy you are feeling, and that is affecting you. If you spend time with someone who is very angry all the time you too will become angry. How does that work? The person’s energy infects you and you react. You probably have suppressed anger from a past experience that you have not dealt with and the person who infected you with their anger triggers you into a reaction.
If you go extremely and react to being infected with angry energy you just add more problems to what you have already suppressed. The anger then remains within you, ready to resurface again. But if you go internally and try to understand why you are angry, then you take the opportunity to heal yourself and the situation. To go ironically, first remove yourself from the room for a moment. If need be, go to the bathroom, but remove yourself from the energy that is infecting you. Ask yourself what you are feeling right now. Are you feeling irritated, frustrated, annoyed? Then once you are aware of what it is, realise that these emotional responses are coming from suppressed feelings from past situations.
Once you are aware of what has surfaced in you, see if you can clear it. If you can’t seem to clear it, then take the time to write down everything that you are feeling if possible and you will come to your won clarity. I have found by writing everything out, you become clearer a lot faster than if you try to just work it out in your head, which can cause the frustration and irritation to grow as you go round in circles in your own mind. You can get stuck on one part of the solution and not see the bigger picture. By writing it all down you will find that it all begins to unravel. It is not difficult to take back your control and power. It is a choice that makes life a little lighter, a little clearer.
Take for example, you are meant to be exercising daily, you promised yourself this, and you miss a workout may be even two workouts. Without realising it you are more upset at yourself then you want to admit at the time, as you have to or want to get on with your day. You get on with your day, but you start being very hard on yourself about everything that comes up through out the day, you might even feel frustrated or angry. If you write your feelings down you will be able to see where it stems from, and once you know the source then it clears itself, so you stop being hard on yourself; that frustration and anger disappear and you feel so much better.
Not long ago I spoke to a woman who said that she longed so much to meditate, yet she could not calm her ming. I said, “fine. Instead of calming your mind, just watch it. As your thoughts wander, wander with them. Watch them go from place to place and see what happens.” Several days later she told me that as soon as she stopped trying to control her mind, it stopped battling her and just relaxed on its own. Funny how that works, isn’t it?
What if you are a happy person and you spend time with an angry person? Why can’t the happiness you feel infect the angry person? Because you have suppressed anger; you don’t have suppressed happiness. We take full responsibility for being happy which means staying in our own power and control. But when we are angry we often find an external source to blame, thereby giving our power and control away and suppressing the emotion. It is important that you make yourself aware of incidences when another person’s negativity may be infecting you. But on the bonus side another person’s energy that is infecting you is an opportunity to learn, to be more aware and to use the opportunity to make changes in your life for the better.
Remember that energy only takes a moment to infect you but it can become your own permanent energy, and remain with you for months, years or even for the rest of your life if you choose. For example if you spent much time with people who have no desire to move forward in life, who like to resist and block every opportunity, you will become infected with this energy. Such energy can really become part of your and affect you the same way becoming something you have to actively work to clear and overcome. Most energy that infects will permeate the body to your very soul, and so must work through it to clear that energy. The solution is to realise that such negative nergy has infected you and to stay aware of this, stay alert and aware that hit is your life, your health and your future and it can be a good future or it can be something else.
